Michigan Democrat Endorses Republican In Bold Attempt To Make American Politics Even Less Comprehensible To Outsiders

Haley Stevens, having lost her party's Senate nomination, has endorsed the man from the other party, days before the vote, on the well-established principle that if one cannot win, one can at least ensure nobody enjoys it. Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer called it 'a despicable betrayal', unusually strong language from a party more used to aiming it at itself. Republicans welcomed the endorsement with the cautious delight of people finding a tenner in someone else's coat.

German Cost-Of-Living Protests Turn Violent, Shocking Nation Which Had Assumed Disorder Was Something That Happened In France

Protests across Berlin, Hamburg and Frankfurt saw shops looted, the same day hundreds of thousands also marched in France, where it was considered a quiet Saturday. Germany's interior minister called for 'harsh punishments', though not, as yet, for anything to do with punctuality. Protesters say they are angry about the cost of living, schools and military service, though it may simply be what happens when a continent runs out of patience and Brie at the same time.
