Crypto Investors Respond To Largest Hack In History By Moving Money Somewhere Safer, Such As Another Crypto Exchange
Binance reports a net outflow of about $3.64bn in a single day after a $6.3bn breach that reportedly began with one engineer's compromised laptop. The exchange says withdrawals are 'stabilising as expected', a phrase which in finance traditionally precedes the word 'unfortunately'. Customers have been reassured that roughly 95% of the stolen assets are covered, leaving only the remaining 5% to be sourced from wherever money comes from in crypto, which nobody has ever fully established.
